How to look for a job today?
Clearly: with the help of the internet and personal networks. Most important trend: one searches proactively and is not "found"! Today you need a strategy for your own search - otherwise you will get lost.
Here are a few tips from our 3k career coaching:
1) xing, Linkedin: Very successful job searches go through these (partly free) networks. As a company, I can post my open positions at no cost. As a candidate, I can signal (even covertly in the menu of linked in, for example) my desire to change recruiters. Be careful when posting the message "looking for challenges". It pays to search every day, everything goes faster.
2) Marketing message is important: What do you want to be in your next job? Put yourself in your future boss, future position. "Pimp" your Linkedin and Xing profile, your CV, your cover letter. You need 3 big core messages. What is your USP? A good photo is key (not too pretty and post-processed).
3) Proactively ask network Many of our coachees think a proactive approach ruins market value. Not true! Using your contacts (that you know!) to ask for options helps.
